Yes, the time has come for me to say goodbye to my old friend Ugly Coat.
Here is Ugly Coat:
Not because Ugly Coat has never been what you might call “a fashion statement” (more of a warmth statement). Not because I suddenly hate Ugly Coat, because I don’t. Ugly Coat is a fab coat for wearing in Arctic conditions or for pottering in the garden. And not that I have suddenly become a turn coat, either. (I know, I know, bad joke).
No, the reason I am consigning Ugly Coat to the back of the wardrobe (because I can’t quite bring myself to throw UC away) is because the bumble bees in the garden keep launching themselves at me whenever I wear it outdoors.
I think they keep mistaking me for one of my Heather plants. And my garden is filled with Heather plants.
Meanwhile, the birds are still ignoring my bird feeder. . .

My sister once wore a purple track suit on a hike and got stung seven times by hornets! Retire Ugly Coat at least until spring is all sprung.
Seven times? Ouch! The coat is being duly retired.
Heathers are looking lovely!
Ugly coat’s day will come again…
